Prokopos Vasilis

Vasilis Prokopos was born in Kandyla, Arcadia, in 1955. He graduated from the Physics and Mathematics School of the University of Athens and worked as a high school teacher. He has been systematically involved in painting since 1982, studying under Theodoros Pantos. He has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad. His thematic focus is on landscape painting, primarily highlighting the uniqueness and myths of the Arcadian landscape that surrounds him. In his recent solo exhibitions, his themes have centered on historical events of collective memory and collective traumas, such as the Asia Minor Catastrophe, the Asia Minor Campaign (1922), the Occupation, Cyprus, Palestine, and others. His works are part of private and public collections. In his piece “Nymph in an Arcadian Landscape,” the artist embodies the uniqueness and myths of the Arcadian scenery, as well as Pan and Greek tradition.
