Georgios Pirounias was born in 1952 in Stefanía, Laconia, and is a self-taught painter. He retired in 1990 from the Hellenic Air Force and worked as a technical director in companies related to the environment. Since 1997, he has been active in companies involved in Environment, Energy, and Tourism. He has held numerous solo exhibitions, the proceeds of which are always donated to charitable causes. The themes he presents in his works mainly include:
• Symbolic compositions with moral and social reflections.
• Topics highlighting the dangers of environmental degradation.
• Themes about children who do not have the fortune to enjoy the goods that we offer today to our own children.
• Depictions of modern Greece and its history.
His work “The Liberation of Tripolitsa” is inspired by the beginning of the occupation of Tripolis (September 23, 1821), attributed to Manolis Dounias, who, with a few comrades, neutralized the guard, opened the Gate of Nafplio, raised the flag, and gave the signal for the general attack to the Greeks.
The biography of Georgios Pirounias
